Coming soon: Ancestral Resonance in Haida Gwaii

The “Ancestral Resonance” project is a special collaboration between carver Gwaai Edenshaw, sound artist Kinnie Starr and Vancouver sound/media artist and artistic director of Vancouver New Music, Giorgio Magnanensi. It will happen in various indoor and outdoor locations in Haida Gwaii over a three week period this summer.

Ancestral Resonance is a site-specific work to create and explore the elements for a unique immersive spatial sound system. The physical components include the creation of a set of audio resonators made from local materials, as well as Haida masks, chests and paddles transformed into new electronic interactive instruments.

We are excited and honoured to be invited to Haida Gwaii to produce this project and will be posting regular updates here.
